Earthquake in Burma, live: last hour of the earthquake and its effects in Thailand and China

Thai authorities have elevated this Sunday to 17 the number of people deceased by the collapse of a building under construction in Bangkok, The capital, as a consequence of the 7.7 earthquake unleashed this last Friday at the Burma Center, which has so far left at least 1,644 dead and more than 3,400 injured in the country.

In addition, another 32 people have been injured with diverse consideration and 83 more continue to miss under the rubble, according to the data of the latest situation report of the Metropolitan Administration of Bangkok.

“It is working intensely in the search for survivors in a collapsed building in the Chatuchak district, where 48 hours have passed since the incident. Life signals in zone A have been detected, so rescue operations will continue urgently. Despite finding more lifeless bodies, the authorities continue to trust more survivors,” said the governor of the city, Chatchat Sittiphan.

The deceased employee has been found this morning by rescue services, which have used a crane and a metal basket to recover the body. In another of the cranes, rescue specialists have installed in the last hours a new scanner that allows to detect signs of life at a depth of up to 20 meters.

Sittiphan has insisted, and this is collected by a statement shared on Facebook, in which the teams deployed give the land “are doing everything possible to save lives”, and thanked the support provided by countries such as the United States, China or Israel.

This balance comes after Thai rescue services estimated this Saturday that there are at least 15 survivors between the rubble of skyscrapers collapsed after the earthquake, amid confusion about the exact figures of trapped.

Remember that the rescue operation began about 48 hours ago and that it is working at full speed from the idea that survivors have a maximum safety margin of three days without water and food.
