Albares: “The future of a Ukraine in peace is related to European security”
The Spanish Foreign Minister, José Manuel Albares, has considered that tomorrow’s meeting Monday of the G5+ in Madrid will be one of the “most important” that Spain will host in the diplomatic field this year, it will be about the European Security Project and the future of a Ukraine “In Peace and Freedom”.
The minister has pointed out this Sunday, in an interview with Catalunya Ràdio, that the meeting will revolve around European values, “those that so bravely and with a lot of courage are defending the Ukrainian citizens” and about the future of a Ukraine “in peace and freedom”, which is “directly related to the security of the European project”, with the “centrality of democratic values.” At the meeting, the Fourth of the G5+ after those of Warsaw, Berlin and Paris, the Foreign Ministers of Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, United Kingdom and Ukraine, as well as the high representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, and the European Commissioner of Defense, Andrius Kubilius, will participate.
Albares, after affirming that the meeting also shows that “Spain is at the design center of that new future of Europe,” has considered that the current moment goes through “continuing to build, lifting Europe.” The gathering will affect, as indicated, both in “how to ensure that the security of the life projects of the Spaniards and Europeans is in European hands”, which means addressing “defense aspects”, as well as in dealing with foreign policy aspects and that the voice of Europe “is heard in the world.”
In addition, other issues that will be in the debate have to do with “aspects of investment, innovation, competitiveness of European companies, defense of the single market”, as well as ensuring that Europe “continues to support Ukraine as long as necessary to win peace against Russian aggression.” (EFE)
