It is only one sentence on page 143 in the government program of the ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS, which recently had many farmers’ representatives and agricultural chambers cheered: “The federal government is committed to the approval of laboratory meat at EU level and is calling for a consequences”, according to “Strengthening the competitiveness of Austrian agriculture”. The Carinthian Chamber of Agriculture sees the government’s plan as a sign that its own campaign and petition against laboratory meat have had an effect in the past year.
