Since the Wellness debut at Olympia, still in 2021, the title of the category has never been as uncertain as in the 2025 edition. The reason is the meteoric rise of Eduarda Bezerra, who won the current world champion Isa Pereira Nunes at Arnold Sports Festival in February. In an exclusive interview with the blog, the Pernambuco athlete says that “only thinks about winning” the most important bodybuilding championship: “nobody intimidates me”.
Despite the champion’s mindset, the bodybuilder does not deny the admiration it has for the current Miss Wellness Olympia and its predecessor, Francielle Mattos: “It’s my greatest references. I want to be the best in the world, I need to be inspired by the best.”
“I’m going to work to beat Olympia. I know they all go, but I will dedicate myself like anyone and I will take the best set of my life to the championship (…) none of my opponents intimidates me. I know what I am capable and respect all.
The phenomenon
Eduarda already practiced bodybuilding and acted in the fitness medium as a model before knowing bodybuilding. What awakened it to the competitive sport was to be delighted with the Wellness division by watching an edition of Olympia. “Looking, I said, ‘I need to be like these women. Perfect!’ They were very beautiful, with the physique very well worked.
Caruaruense’s debut on the bodybuilding stage took place in April 2023 at the Northeast MuscleContest. In the competition, she won two classes and got the vice-collation of another.
After becoming professional in the 2024 edition of the Arnold Sports Festival South America, just a year after his debut, Eduarda won three professional titles and a place for Olympia, where she took the third position: “When I was placed in the first confrontation alongside Francielle (Top2) and Isa (Top1) I didn’t believe it.”
The fact that he was a newcomer at the time did not make the athlete intimidated. “I was going to win. Not necessarily to be Top1, but I knew I would do my best and appear to the public. At no time, I put myself out of the top5 of this show,” says the bodybuilder.
The consolidation
Even with the result above expectations in the hardest show of world bodybuilding, Eduarda did not end her competition circuit and decided to go on stage for the 12th time in just two years for the biggest challenge of her career so far: winning the current world champion in Arnold Classic Ohio, considered the most relevant bodybuilding tournament on the planet after Olympia.
Unanimously among the referees, the Pernambuco won the competition after undergoing one of the “lighter” preparations of their life. “It was one of the lightest preparations I made. Mentally and physically. I was able to socialize more with the people around me, which did very well for my head. Before, my preparations were from the gym to home and vice-versa,” he explains.
After nailing his name on the first shelf of world bodybuilding and spending almost two years without resting between championships, Eduarda reveals that it will not compete until October: “Now, let’s work only for Olympia.”
Finally, the bodybuilder recalls criticism she received until last year and replies: “I was very judged after the top3 in Olympia. They said I had Bikini physique, that I had never won a big show that they didn’t understand my podium entry. Now, I think they understand.”
