The threat of customs on wine and other alcoholic beverages from the EU is worrying the sector in Portugal. By 2024, the US became the second main destination for Portuguese wine exports, with a growth of 2% to 102.1 million euros, according to the Viniportugal Association.
Annually, Brussels co -finance campaigns promoting large agri -food products, including wine in the rest of the world.
“This year we will continue to promote our high quality agri -food products with 132 million euros, of which 63.4 million are dedicated to promotion in third countries,” said the commissioner, recalling that applications are open until April 23.
On Friday, the community executive presented measures to strengthen the wine sector, including the start of vineyard, the harvest of grapes in green, flexibility in the plantation and supporting adaptation to climate change.
Brussels also wants to promote the wines without alcohol or very little alcohol content.
