Italian police are investigating the cause of a fire at an Tesla electric vehicle dealership (TSLA) in Rome, which left 17 cars damaged.
A police spokesman confirmed on Monday that an investigation is underway, but refused to comment on the details of the inquiry.
According to the Fire Department, the fire partially hit the structure where the cars were parked. The cause of the incident has not yet been released, and no one was injured. Police officers remain at the scene and are supporting the firefighters.
Tesla’s dealers, vehicles and recharge stations have been the target of a series of vandalism acts in recent weeks, played as a reaction against Elon Musk, CEO of the automaker.
Musk, who also acts as a senior advisor to Donald Trump, leads some of the US president’s most controversial initiatives, including the spending cuts program known as the government efficiency department.
