The US M88 Hercules weighing 70 tons pulled out of the mud in Lithuania. The search for four missing soldiers continues.

In Lithuania, an American armored vehicle was pulled out of the swamp that sank in the training area in the east of the country last week. The fate of the four missing American soldiers is still not known. TASR informs about this on the basis of a report by Lithuanian public service LRT.

Lithuanian Minister of Defense confirmed the vehicle that four soldiers served in the morning. She explained that an armored M88 Hercules rescue vehicle weighs nearly 70 tons and was buried in the mud that made it difficult. In addition to two other M88 vehicles, two bulldozers had to be used.

The Minister did not provide new information about missing soldiers. “Until investigators have more information, we must keep peace and remember how sensitive this situation is for the family of soldiers,” she stressed. “If the pulling of an armored vehicle does not provide all the answers, the work will continue,” she added, adding that investigators from the US are on the spot.

Four American soldiers have been missing from Tuesday afternoon, when they were planned in the planned tactical training in the military training area Pabradé near the border with Belarus. Their M88 Hercules was found on Wednesday in a marsh area at a depth of about five meters. It is still unclear whether there were soldiers inside.

Lithuanian and American armed forces, as well as Lithuanian rescuers and dozens of Polish soldiers with specialized technology participated in the extensive search event.
