In the week when he should formalize his pre-candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic, the governor of Goiás, Ronaldo Caiado (União Brasil), hardened the tone against the government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) and openly criticized the new ministerial composition, especially the appointment of Gleisi Hoffmann to the Secretariat of Institutional Relations.

In pre-campaign, Caiado attacks Lula, criticizes Gleisi and defends Amnesty of 8/1

In an interview with S.Paulo FolhaCaiado stated that Lula “returned to the origins” by handing over to Gleisi and broke the dialogue with the political center:

“For a period, he wanted to sign signs to the center-right. Now he has decided. He has already put Gleisi there. Any politician who understands that ‘Pingo is letter’ knows what the position he will take from now. He will harden in this line, return to the origins, structure the ministry with ‘companions’.”

Retaliation accusations

Caiado also said he was being politically persecuted by the federal government. According to him, highway concession works in Goiás were taken from federal programs, and a loan of R $ 700 million with the World Bank was vetoed by Rogério Ceron, secretary of the National Treasury, even after technical approval.

“Government actions are directed, not with technical bias, but as retaliation for a government that is working. [Gleisi] must have been confused. ”

Criticism of security policy

The Goian Governor also reacted to a recent statement by Lula about not wanting a country known as “republic of cell phone thieves”: “Not only that. He has to understand that he is sponsoring Brazil’s transition from a democratic state to a state of drug trafficking by his omission.”

Caiado went further and associated the Workers Party with a supposed compliance with the crime: “They are complaining to the crime. This is part of their electorate. It’s their habitat. They live with this gear and participate in it.”

About Bolsonaro and the right

Caiado denied that his candidacy is conditioned to the ineligibility of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who became a defendant last week for alleged involvement in the attempted coup:

“I am waiting for the unfolding of the facts, but that cannot be an inhibitor factor. He has every right to seek his freedom, as he was given to Lula.”

Despite the indirect criticism of the former president, Caiado stressed that he was the first governor to defend the amnesty to the acts of January 8: “It should have been sent with the intelligence that Juscelino Kubitschek had, to amnesty everyone. Stop this discussion that has been dragging on two years ago. Tired the population.”
