Opposition urges demonstrators in Türkiye to released.

Ankara/Istanbul – The party of the abandoned Mayor of Istanbul Ekrem İmamoğlu has called for the release of hundreds of detained demonstrators. “Calling slogans, marching or protesting is not a crime, but a right-wing law,” said CHP spokesman Deniz Yücel after visiting a prison near Izmir. The arrest and arrest of the people, mostly students, is illegal. Yücel also criticized “disproportionate use of violence” of security forces in the protests.
