Prepare natural spraying for currants. No pest will move them

Currants are often grown on the plot. We consider them as popular fruit bushes, whose crops can be used in various ways in the kitchen, mainly for jams, juices, compotes and cakes.

Even beginner gardeners will cope with the cultivation of these plants. However, the currant has specific care requirements. We must use them and additionally implement spraying. Only then will we see numerous fruits.

Let’s start with planting itself. The right term is important in the rooting of this plant before the arrival of extreme temperatures. Therefore, we plant it in early spring or autumn in holes with a depth of 40 cm and a width of 50 cm. We also maintain 1.5 m interval for free growth. After planting, it is necessary to water abundantly.

Currant we choose a fertile, permeable and light substrate with a slightly acidic reaction. Thanks to this, it will be better to absorb nutrients. Before planting, it is worth supplying the soil with compost or well -spread manure. We should also remember that the soil should be well drained – this plant does not like the lying water.

This shrub grows best in a sunny or partially shaded position. The place should be shielded from the wind, which could destroy delicate shoots.

The currant prefers moist soil. That’s why It should be watered regularlyespecially during hot weather and drought. It is also recommended to fertilize the plant with the aforementioned compost, manure, but also biohumus or vegetable manure, e.g. from nettle or banana skins.

Currant spraying is made in early spring, before the start of vegetation. At the beginning we use an oil preparation, which is to protect against aphids and spider mites. Before flowering, we spray the shrub with copper or garlic extract. In turn, after flowering, we use spraying with Copper and Vilfered Horsetail. In this case, they prevent leaf and rust anthtraknosis.

Let’s focus on natural spraying, i.e. on a garlic and horsetail extract. We will prepare these two products ourselves. How to make them?

We prepare a decoction of garlic from 200 g of this vegetable, which we pour 10 liters of water. Set aside for 3-4 days and after this time strain the liquid, pour into a dish with an atomizer and spray currants without dilution.

To make a decoction of horsetail, we need 1 kg of dried herb, which we pour 10 liters of water And let stand a day. After this time, we cook the whole for 30 minutes and then wait until it cools down. Dilute the cooled liquid with water in a 1: 4 ratio and only then we spray.

To sum up, spring currant spraying is not only a way to protect plants, but also an investment in abundant harvest. The use of appropriate preparations and methods can clearly improve both quality and the amount of fruit.
