With the success of ‘Love of Ganga’, the 27-year-old artist stands out in the national musical panorama, mixing British influences with Portuguese expressions. With a diverse career of almost two decades, Miguel Luz prepares for the concerts sold out in Lisbon and Porto.

In 2001, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were the couple of the moment and took the American Music Awards with a look as bold as unforgettable: “Ganga with Ganga.”

The two icons of pop culture have transformed the simple fabric into a cry of style and irreverence that is associated with two American artists these days.

More than two decades later, Miguel Luz wears this same spirit on the album “Ganga com Ganga”. Like the mythical set of Spears and Timberlake, your new work is a mixture of boldness, authenticity and self -expression without filters.

In an interview with SIC Notícias, the 27 -year -old musician says he was inspired by his girlfriend. In her ganga outfit, she imagined a parallel world in which two characters made Pandan.

“This was, deep down, inspired by my girlfriend, who always used ganga with ganga. The first memory I have is to have known it that way. So I imagined a world for this album, something people could dive. A world that had two ganga characters with ganga.

“Parents tell me that the child only eats the soup when they put the love of ganga”

Launched in October 2024, “Love of Ganga” has over one million views on YouTube and put Miguel Luz on almost all national radios. Asked about whether the song was expected to become a success, the artist says yes and tells a curiosity.

“I hoped yes. But I wasn’t expecting it was just like that. Now I get parents from saying that the child doesn’t eat the soup, but when they put the” ganga love, “he gets happy and starts eating the soup. So, I’m glad to help parents feed,” he jokes.

“I always walked with a notebook to point things when I heard someone to say”

All 12 songs present in “Ganga com Ganga” have lyrics that make use of metaphors and games with the Portuguese language. Miguel Luz confesses that, since he was a young age, he always walked with a notebook writing down his expressions of his grandparents and parents.

“These are expressions that I always heard my grandparents and my parents a lot to say. I really like Portuguese culture and expressions. I always walked with a notebook to point out things when I heard someone to say. And this style of music also pulls a writing that I tried to do more metaphors, try to play more with the Portuguese language, which I think there is a lot to catch,” he explains.

INSPIRATION TO THE ENGLISH

The technique of always walking with a notebook was inspired by Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys. In fact, it was from the British band that Miguel “drank more” to produce this album.

“Ganga com Ganga” has similarities to the first albums of the Sheffield set, especially in the lyrical style and in the musical approach.

“The Arctic Monkeys have always been my favorite band. I really like British music, guitar tones and the type of lyrics,” he confides.

In the letters, both light and Turner exploit themes of everyday life and personal relationships with great authenticity, using local cultural expressions in a creative way.

They bring a young and irreverent energy, without pretensions, and with letters that sound like a personal diary, reflecting the experiences of the generation to which they belong.

A career of almost two decades

Despite living more under the spotlight, the truth is that Miguel Luz has a career with almost two decades, incorporating several strands.

At the age of 10, he began producing humorous video content and quickly stood out on the Youtube platform.

In 2016, he made his debut in the world of writing and launched the book “Intensive Course for Survival of School”.

At the end of the following year, under the alter ego Mike Lyte, he edited the first album of originals “Crocodildo” in which he joined his sense of humor to hip-hop instruments.

In 2019, he ventured into the world of podcasts with the ‘open window’, in which he herself “thought out loud about what would feel, alone or with guests.”

In addition, it created a line of clothing inspired by Portuguese culture.

“I never made a movie…”

What follows? Miguel Luz also wants to release a Frank Sinatra style album and make a movie.

“I was very fond of making a Frank Sinatra album, which is completely out of my vocal range, but I think it would be a lot of fun. I really liked to make a movie, but I don’t know how. I imagine I go to try this area. I also like to represent. In fact, I started youtube wearing wigs and making characters, says the artist.

Miguel Luz is preparing to present the new live songs in Capitolio, in Lisbon, on April 3 and 4. On the 5th, it will be the turn to play at Hard Club in Porto.

With the nervousness just to turn around the day he will take the stage, the musician is enthusiastic and considers it to be exhausted those three dates in such a short time.

“I’m very happy, but it doesn’t look real yet. I’m enthusiastic, but I’ll have to pass the nervousness that day. But it’s a feat for me to have released this album and now make these three rooms.”

Miguel Luz promises a roller coaster in the alignment of concerts.
