Country has lost 13 names on the list in a year and now occupies the world’s 9th position behind Hong Kong; Nevertheless, fortune by Eduardo Saverin, the richest Brazilian, climbed
Brazil registered a significant drop in the 2025 edition of the forbes billionaires ranking, leaving 7th to 9th position among countries with the most representatives in the select Billionaire Fortune Club. This year, there are 56 Brazilians on the list, 13 less than the 69 recorded in 2024.
This reduction also impacted the total equity of Brazilian billionaires, who fell from US $ 231 billion (R $ 1.3 trillion) to US $ 212 billion (R $ 1.2 trillion). Although it still has relevant figures such as Facebook co-founder, whose fortune rose to $ 34.5 billion (R $ 197 billion), the country was overtaken by Hong Kong (66 billionaires) and Italy (74), and sees its influence among the ultra globals shrink.
The performance contrasts with the advancement of other emerging and developed countries. Germany, for example, jumped from 132 to 171 billionaires; Russia went from 120 to 140; And even Canada won nine new names, rising from 67 to 76 billionaires. The only stability among the top ten was in the United Kingdom, which maintained 55 names – just one less than Brazil this year.
While the United States is still sovereigns with 902 billionaires, and China consolidates itself in second position with 450, Brazil sees its shrink presence, reflecting the impact of factors such as economic slowdown, exchange rate volatility, and oscillating performance of the Brazilian exchange.
