EMEL begins the supervision of compliance with the road code in Lisbon, with new skills that include the ability to assess all vehicles.
EMEL-Lisbon Municipal Mobility and Parking Company begins this Tuesday to supervise the road code in the city and will have a brigade specially dedicated to oversee Tuk-Tuk and TVDE.
Subscribed by the leadership PSD/CDS-PP in the Lisbon Chamber, the The surveillance skills of the Road Code was approved at the Municipal Assembly on Monday.
Official source of the Chamber indicated to Lusa that EMEL will be able to file a model of offenses in force.

At the same time, an inspection unit will be created and TVDE (individual and paid passenger transport in uncharacterized vehicles from electronic platform).
This new EMEL brigade, with 61 inspectors, begins functions on the same day that the tuk-tuk circulation prohibition in 337 streets of seven parishes of the capital: New Avenues, Arroios, Penha de França, St. Anthony, Mercy and Santa Maria Maior.

In a statement, the Lisbon Chamber needs that the “focus of inspection will be in the embarrassment of the circulation of Tuk Tuk and TVDE stopped on the roads or, in particular, on the bus or arteries with only one way of circulation by meaning, such as Av. Almirante Reis”.
The main zones to oversee will be Baixa Pombalina, the castle slope, Nossa Senhora do Monte and Belém, added the municipality.
“This inspection work will tighten the siege to non -compliance and adds to the operations of the Municipal Police which only in 2024 has doubled the number of occurrences registered with 2023, totaling 3,821 cases,” the municipality said.
