International payments took a revolutionary step with this new measure. The MB Way platform, in partnership with SIBS and European Payments Alliance (Europe), has announced that users can already make instant transfers between Portugal, Spain and Italy.
Faster and easier international transfers
From now on, MB Way users have the ability to send money to Spain and Italy immediately. In Spain, transfers are made to Bizum -associated mobile phone numbers, while in Italy the service is linked to Bancomat.
According to, this functionality allows the sending of funds to be as simple as selecting a contact in the mobile phone list. The money is transferred instantly and is immediately available to the recipient’s account.
Implementation until June
The expansion of this functionality will be done gradually. In Portugal, the option is now available to all banking institutions that support P2P MB Way transfers within the separate Instant.
In Spain and Italy, total integration will be completed by June. Until then, new banks and users will be progressively included in the system, widening functionality coverage.

According to Madalena Cascais Tomé, CEO of SIBS, this advance represents an important step for a more integrated payment system in Europe. “We are building a robust, resilient and totally involable Pan-European ecosystem based on European infrastructure and innovation,” he said.
The official also pointed out that Europe is open to new adhesions, encouraging other payment solutions to join the project to reinforce the payment infrastructure on the continent.
