Families were sitting with their children on the sidewalk near the river, some surrounded by their belongings, and the sidewalk was covered with tents and mosquitoes.
The Regional Director for Asia Pacific at FICV, Alexander Matheou, told Reuters that the aid organization was concerned with “extreme heat” and “minimal access to drinking water, shadow or food”.
“The medical service has also been damaged,” he said, noting that there is limited access to health care.
Mandalay is close to the epicenter of what happened on Friday.
China, India and Thailand are among the neighbors of Myanmar who sent, along with the help and staff of Malaysia, Singapore and Russia.
The United Nations said they were sending rescue supplies to survivors in downtown Myanmar.
The United States promised $ 2 million in help “through Myanmar -based humanitarian assistance organizations.”
They said in a statement that an emergency response team from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which is being sent to Myanmar.
The devastation of the earthquake accumulated more misery in Myanmar, already in chaos due to the civil war that intensified after the elected government of the Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi was deposed by the military.
