Do you think your dishwasher is cleaned alone? The mistake! Experts warn that most Slovaks neglect the maintenance of this appliance, which can lead not only to its failure, but also to the multiplication of dangerous bacteria.
The dishwasher saves us time and energy. However, in order to work effectively and last long, it needs regular care. Find out how often you should clean it and which parts you must not forget.
How often to clean the dishwasher? Regularity is crucial
If you only use the dishwasher occasionally, just clean it every two months. For more frequent use, clean it at least once a month. Check the filter every week – it accumulates food remnants that smell and can cause clogging. Wipe the door seal every three weeks to prevent mold formation. Clean the nozzles every two to three months.
What to avoid when cleaning the dishwasher? Never do this!
Avoid strong cleaning agents such as bleach or ammonia. These aggressive substances can damage rubber seals or cause corrosion of metal parts. Do not use a handwashing agent – it would create too much foam, which could lead to a dishwasher failure.
How to effectively clean the dishwasher in a home way? Two products are enough
Use the vinegar and soda of bicarbonate instead of expensive detergents. Pour the soda into the cleaning tablet compartment, pour a glass of vinegar on the bottom of the dishwasher and start the high temperature program. After the cycle, open the dishwasher, allow to cool and wipe it with a damp sponge.
What else to think about when care for a dishwasher? Do not miss these details
Check the nozzles regularly – rotary arms with water holes often clog. In this case, remove the nozzle and clean its holes with a toothpick. Also, be sure to check the filter – if it is clogged, the dishwasher will not wash the dishes thoroughly.
Resistant deposits and grease disappear immediately. Your dishwasher will shine without scrubbing
