Titled ‘Fram2’, the trip of Elon Musk’s company, which is expected to last from three to five days, uses the Falcon 9 rocket and transports four astronauts, which will perform a series of longer missions experiments
A This Monday (31) launched the first manned mission to directly fly over the terrestrial polar regions on a private flight with four astronauts. Called “Fram2”, the mission should last from three to five days. The night takeoff of the Falcon 9 rocket, from the company of he was celebrated in the control room while his trip to the north and southern poles of the Earth began.
The crew came from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 9:46 pm, aboard a Dragon capsule. Astronauts should do a number of vital experiments for longer missions. “With the same pioneering spirit as the first polar explorers, we seek to bring back new data and knowledge, to advance the long -term objectives of space exploration,” said Mission Commander Chun Wang, a F2Pool and Skatefish founder Maltese adventurer.
Wang chose the other crew members: vehicle commander Jannicke Mikkelsen, a Norwegian filmmaker; German robotics pilot and researcher Rabea Rogge and medical expert and officer Eric Philips, an Australian polar expeditionary. The team trained for eight months for the trip. Upon returning to Earth, the crew will try to leave the ship without additional medical support, as part of a study to understand how well astronauts can perform basic tasks after a space flight.
The polar regions of the earth have been out of the vision of astronauts. The Lunar Missions Apollo did not fly over them directly. Space X has already performed five private missions, three in collaboration with Axiom Space to ISS and two free orbital flights.
