Tabata asks MEC clarification on omission in literacy data – 31/03/2025 – Panel

The Federal Deputy (-SP) asked the Minister of, Camilo Santana, information about the disclosure of data from the result of SAEB of 2023.

That of the main evaluation of the quality of basic education in the country was revealed by Sheet On Thursday (27).

In the letter, Tabata questions which reasons led OA not to disclose the results of 2023 and what would be the inconsistencies in the Saeb found by the government.

The report had access to a letter, signed by the president of the (National Institute of Educational Studies, MEC body responsible for evaluations), Manuel Palácios, indicating that there is only the “publication of the Microdines of the SAEB 2023 assessments of the 5th and 9th grade of elementary school and the 3rd grade of Portuguese Language and Mathematics”.

To the panel, Tabata reinforced the importance of Saeb data. “Restricate the disclosure of data from the early years, even though MEC believes in a more appropriate methodology to verify the advances of literacy, hinders the public power in correcting public policy problems,” says the deputy.

“It also negatively influences the production of research related to education due to lack of a base of comparison,” continued Tabata, which on Saturday (29) was reelected president of the PSB in São Paulo.
