At the age of 68, Wellesley Bolt, father of star Jamaican sprinter USain Bolt, died on Monday. According to overseas media, he succumbed to long -term illness. The sprinter itself, the holder of the eight Golden Olympic Medals, has not yet commented on this event.

In the past, however, he was heard that it was on the basis of his father’s advice that he preferred an athletic career over cricket. In addition to precious metals from the Olympic Games in Beijing, London and Rio, he also has seven individual titles from the World Championship in the 100 and 200 meters World Championship.

“I join all the Jamaicans and I would like to express my sincere condolences to Usain Bolt, his beloved mother Jennifer and the whole family. Wellesley was a strong and peaceful power behind one of Jamaica’s greatest sons. His presence, support and leadership helped to create a message that is still inspired by the world, ” said Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Oloness.
