The extraordinary meeting of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic to the dismissal of Defense Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) has not yet been opened. MEPs were not quorum. Only 64 were presented as those present, less than the need for an absolute majority. Parliament’s Vice-President Tibor Gašpar (Smer-SD) therefore postponed the start of the negotiations at 8.33.
The opposition was made by the proposal to declare distrust of the head of the defense department. It was initiated by opposition MPs from the Club Slovakia, for people, Ú. Kalinaks ask for departure because he did not mention the ownership of the villa in Croatia in the property declaration. They pointed out the violation of the law. The Minister had previously explained that he did not state the property bought by his wife in property declaration to protect the family’s privacy. He also pointed out that his income fully covers the value of the property.
