US President Donald Trump told the members of his administration and other close persons that billionaire Elon Musk will soon leave his office in government and return to business. Referring to unnamed sources, Magazine Politico informed on Wednesday. The White House subsequently denied the report, according to spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt Musk, will leave only after his work is completed, TASR writes.
Trump built the head of Tesla and SpaceX to the head of the State Administration Efficiency Office (Doga) in January when he became president. After about a year, the billionaire has to reduce government spending and cancel various US agencies as a so -called special government employee.
It is not clear whether Musk will leave before the end of May or early June, when his 130-day mandate is to end. According to Politic, he and Trump have agreed in recent days. Three sources of the magazine say that Trump is still satisfied with the work of Muska and the office led by him, but they both agreed that Musk would soon return to his businesses and take only a supporting role for the government.
An unnamed source from the White House told Reuters that investors want Muska to return to his companies and that his efforts with Doga would be completed within 130 days, which Musk himself reported several times to Trump. Musk will not leave before finishing his work in Doga and “no one chases it”, the source said.
In a similar vein, Leavitt, who described the article in politics as “waste”, also commented on the X social network. She recalled that both Trump and Musk have made it public that Musk would leave the public service only after completing their work.
“I think he’s amazing, but I also think he has to lead a big company. He will come back at some point. He wants it,” Trump said on Monday. Musk said last week in an interview with Fox News that he is convinced that most of his work to reduce federal billion dollars will be completed within 130 days.
Musk’s possible departure, however, does not mean the end of Doga, said Reuters. The mandate of this office will expire on July 4, 2026 on the basis of a regulation signed by Trump on January 20.
However, this report comes at a time when some members of Trump’s administration and many other allies are frustrated from Musk’s unpredictability and billionaire more and more.
