Brazilian journalistic organizations will be able to compete for financing from. Launched last week, the fund aims to expand access to information of public interest, prioritizing vehicles that operate in the so -called “deserts of news”, municipalities without active journalistic coverage.
In its first cycle, the fund will be goal to support for three consecutive years up to 15 organizations with annual scholarships of R $ 75 thousand to R $ 150 thousand. In addition to financing, selected organizations will receive mentoring.

Registrations will be open until May 27 and the result will be released on August 28.

The last edition of the record of 8.6% (256 municipalities) in total. Still, 2,712 municipalities – which houses 26.7 million Brazilians – remained without local news.
