Palmeiras presented on Tuesday (1) their financial statements of 2024, confirming their record collection, for the first time, at the House of Billion. The gross total was $ 1.27 billion. In 2023, the amount was R $ 908 million.

The brand was obtained even in a season when the club failed its main goals, with early eliminations in the Brazilian Cup and Libertadores, both in the round of 16. Despite starting his journey with the three -time Paulista championship, he also lost the supercopa dispute to rival São Paulo and had no breath in the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship, getting the deputy.

For Amir Somoggi, partner at Sports Value, sports marketing consultancy, the balance sheet released by the Barra Funda club shows a very comfortable situation even with the increase in debt, which was $ 571 million in December 2023 to $ 852 million at the end of 2024, a growth of 49.2%.

The financial department of the alviverde team divides its debt into two blocks, “historical” and “operational”. In the historical part, according to the balance, there are old debts, from past, unpaid and then paid management, as well as debts of previous exercises lawsuits.

In this statement, the debt rose from 135.8%, from R $ 53 million in December 2023 to R $ 125 million in December 2024. The club reported that the increase was recorded due to the installment of R $ 71 million of ISS (Service Tax) over the game box office from 2010 to 2018.

Operational debt, in turn, increased by 40.3%from R $ 518 million to R $ 727 million. Justifying growth, two spending is highlighted, with hiring players, defined as “commitments to support the club’s normal operation,” and debts paid in January 2025, such as salaries of athletes and staff, gloves, charges and taxes.

This, however, should be the point of attention to Palmeiras in Somoggi’s opinion. He points out that the club has a very high expense on expenses related to the Men’s, Women’s and Basic Department. Added, in 2024, they consumed just over R $ 867 million.

“It’s a club that spends a lot. The Palmeiras football department has never spent so much. On the one hand has an organized club, which has invested in the grassroots categories, which sees its recipes grow, but is a club that spends more than it should,” says Somoggi.

“It is historic for the club to go from $ 1 billion, but the expense of almost $ 900 million only with football is a costly cost of reality since the team does not present this football on the field,” he said. “Even so, it increases the debt on one side, but has a lot to receive from the sale of players, which could settle [a dívida que aumentou]. It’s a club that is in a comfortable situation. “

Athlete negotiations represented the club’s largest source of revenue in 2024, with 35% of the total operating revenue (R $ 440.3 million). Transmission rights (R $ 189 million) and sponsorships (R $ 150 million) appear shortly thereafter, representing, respectively, 15% and 12% of total gross revenue.

In the case of rights, however, there was a drop from 2023, when the amount collected was $ 203 million. This reduction in absolute values, 7% compared to the previous year, is due precisely to falls in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, eliminated by Botafogo, and the Brazilian Cup, against Flamengo, justifies the statement.

The training led by Abel Ferreira still had the chance to compensate for failures in the knockout tournaments seeking the Brazilian Championship trophy, but this time did not reach a turn against Botafogo despite having more time to dedicate himself exclusively to the event-he assured as deputy.

In 2023, Palmeiras reached the quarterfinals of the Brazilian knockout and the semifinal of the continental tournament, and was a national champion. The results of 2024 also reduced the awards. The fall was 20%, from R $ 86 million to R $ 69 million.

On the other hand, sponsorship and advertising revenue recorded an increase of 18%from R $ 127 million to R $ 150 million. The club highlights the master sponsorship of women’s football and the sale of rights for the advertising signs of the Brazilian Championship.

The document with the financial statements of Palmeiras also points out that the club closed the 2024 year with a surplus of R $ 198.2 million, driven mainly for the sale of players.
