This Wednesday (2), the mayor of Rio Branco, Tião Bocalom (PL), signed Decree No. 1,500, which establishes a policy of prevention and combating harassment and discrimination within the municipal public service. The initiative seeks to ensure a safe, respectful and free work environment of any kind of embarrassment or violation of rights.
The decree is based on principles such as respect for human dignity, protection of privacy and promoting a healthy professional environment. The standard applies to all public agents, including effective, commissioned, outsourced and interns.

The measure defines harassment like any repetitive conduct that compromises the physical or emotional integrity of a worker, creating a hostile professional environment. Discrimination is characterized as any exclusion or distinction based on factors such as race, gender, religion or political position, impairing equal opportunities.

Predicted actions include educational campaigns, continuous training and the adoption of preventive measures to avoid conflict in the workplace. The execution of the initiatives will be under the responsibility of the Municipal Secretariat of Administrative Management, while the Municipal Ombudsman and the General Corregedoria will act at the reception and investigation of complaints related to the theme.
