An unidentified man was assaulted, allegedly shot and thrown into the Acre River on Tuesday night (1). The crime occurred on the Juscelino Kubitschek bridge, popularly known as a metal bridge, in central Rio Branco.

According to a witness, two men were physically assaulting a third person. Then the criminals fired at least twice against the victim, who eventually fell into the waters of the Acre River. After the action, the pair fled the scene.

Also according to the witness, the victim, after falling into the river, managed to cling to the bars being used on the catwalk and asked for help for a few minutes, until he loosens and was taken by the river current.

The witness called the Military Police, who sent two garrisons to the scene, as well as the 2nd Battalion Military Fire Department, which searched a boat. However, so far, no one has been found.

Searches should continue in the early hours of Friday morning, under the responsibility of the 2nd Military Fire Department Battalion Platoon.
