New mayor spoke about the friendship with the predecessor and the dismissal of workers linked to him
(União Brasil) took over the city of Belo Horizonte in a ceremony in the City Council this Thursday (3.br.2025). He had been in the interim position since January, after the removal of (PSD), for health reasons.
On March 26, at the age of 77, because of an acute respiratory failure.
During the ceremony, Damião paid tribute to Fuad. The mayor talked about the friendship between them and stated that the predecessor leaves a legacy for the city of Belo Horizonte.
“Fuad went to me more than a manager, was a friend, a mentor. He leaves a very large legacy, with his feet on the ground and his heart in Belo Horizonte. I promise, Fuad, that the Lord will never be disappointed to have chosen me to be with the Lord ”these.
In the first measure as mayor, Damião announced the sending of a bill to the House to rename the city’s Independence Square in honor of Fuad Noman. The proposal intends to install a statue of the manager on site.
The mayor also spoke about the dismissal of part of the team linked to the predecessor. According to him, the changes are punctual and the workers must “go out with your head held high ” for the work done.
“Those who go out of the city go out with their heads erected because they did their work. There is no idea that it is trust, not confidence, or that Damião is putting his face on him. No, we will change some secretariats in Belo Horizonte, there is no administrative reform.”he declared.
