Entity highlights the importance of evaluating tariffs and dialoguing to minimize impacts on Brazilian exports

The CNI (National Confederation of Industry) declared on Wednesday (2.br.2025) that Brazil needs to be thoroughly evaluated the actions announced by the president of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican Party). In addition, he stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue as a way to preserve the long and complementary relationship between the 2 countries.

Of course we are concerned with any measure that makes our products to enter a market as important as the US, the main one for Brazilian industry exports. However, we need to do a complete analysis of the act. We need to insist and intensify dialogue to find exits that reduce any impacts of the measures ”said CNI President Ricardo Alban, in a statement.

Still on Wednesday (2.br.2025) Trump announced a global importation and confirmed the application of a 10% rate on Brazilian products.

In addition, CNI said it will organize the trip of a group of Brazilian businessmen to the United States in the first half of May. According to the entity, the delegation will have meetings with representatives of the US industry and government to discuss trade facilitation measures and the opening of markets in a balanced way.

“We reiterate the industry’s willingness to contribute negotiations with US partners. The US strategic business mission is precisely the goal of deepening the relationship and discussing ways to strengthen cooperation and trade between Brazil and the United States.”said Ricardo Alban.

According to CNI, the United States represents the main destination of exports in Brazil’s transformation industry, with emphasis on products of higher technological value. In addition, the country leads both services trade and bilateral investments between the two nations.

In 2024, the Brazilian transformation industry sold US $ 31.6 billion in products to the US market. During this period, for every R $ 1 billion exported to the US, 24,300 jobs were generated in Brazil, in addition to R $ 531.8 million in salary and R $ 3.6 billion in production.

For the (Federation of Trade in Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo), the US decision may be an opportunity for the expansion of Brazilian trade. The entity argues that Brazil must take advantage of the conjuncture to close bilateral agreements. “Since many nations will have difficulty bringing their products to the US, due to tariffs, this is the ideal time for Brazil to reinforce its participation in these markets. Especially in Japan, China and the European Union, to name a few ”said the entity, in a note.
