Representatives of domestic workers met on Wednesday (3) with the Minister of Labor, Luiz Marinho, to discuss inspection measures to the activity and the fight against work analogous to slavery.
This week, an entourage of the National Federation of Domestic Workers (Fenatrad) and various unions and associations of the category is in Brasilia for a schedule of meetings with parliamentarians and representatives of ministries.
On Tuesday (2), meetings were held with the director of the economy of care of the Ministry of Social Development and Hunger Fighting, Luana Pinheiro, and Secretary Rossane Silva, of the National Secretariat of Economic Autonomy.
There were topics such as campaigns in partnership with the federal government to enhance homework and maintain Bolsa Familia for workers registered by CLT.
The category, according to the Dieese, encompasses 5.8 million workers, representing 5.9% of the country’s total workforce. Of this total, 92% are women, of which 67.3% declare themselves black.
The mobilization occurs at the time of the 12th anniversary of the promulgation of the domestic PEC, which recognized and created rights for the category, and 10 years of the complementary law that regulated the labor rights of domestic.
Entities say there are still problems such as high informality, precarious work and the need to expand unionization.
In August, there will be the 13th National Congress of Domestic Workers, which will bring together union leaders from all over the country to discuss the direction of the category.
