Spain surpassed France and took over the runner-up in the ranking of FIFA (International Football Federation) teams, in the first update of the year released on Thursday (3).

The current Argentine world champion, the first South American to secure a place in the 2026 World Cup, is still leading the list, while Brazil remained in fifth place.

In its last commitment, Spain hit the Netherlands (6th) on penalties, in a duel valid for the quarterfinals of the League of Nations.

In the semifinals, scheduled for June 4 and 5 in Germany, Spain measures forces against France, which eliminated Croatia (11th).

On the other side of the key, Germany (10th) faces Portugal (7th), after eliminating Italy (9th) and Denmark (21st), respectively.

Mianmar’s selection was the one that most led positions in the last update of the FIFA ranking, exceeding seven teams and now occupying the post of 162.
