You don’t even need a physical store. New Swedish furniture giant platform gives all Ikea products a second life (except appliances, mattresses and food products) and is available throughout the national territory.
It is due: Ikea has already launched its new digital platform in Portugal, where customers will be able to buy and sell articles from the second -hand Swedish giant.
After pilot tests were successful in Oslo and Madrid, the multinational chose Portugal as the first market where the service will be available throughout the national territory from the beginning.
It is possible “a consumer of the company to sell Ikea articles across the country, even without having physical stores,” explained Maria João Franco, from Ikea Portugal, this Thursday.
Through the platform, customers can sell exclusively brand articles to other consumers. According to Ikea Portugal’s digital portfolio, About 60% of the Portuguese already buy or sell used articlesand 10% of these are Swedish brand products, which has sought to promote more sustainable forms of consumption.
The system is simple, according to Ikea: When putting an article on sale, the seller has automatic access to photos and description of the original product as well as the starting price. A selling price is suggested, but the seller has full freedom to define the final value he wants.
There is Two payment options: the total value of the sale or a reimbursement card, with a 15% bonus on the sale valuewhich can be used in Ikea stores for a year.
The money only arrives at the seller after the buyer confirms the reception and the status of the article.
The platform allows you to sell the entire range of Ikea, except appliances, mattresses and food products.
Before being published, ads are checked by the Ikea team to ensure that the products are effectively from IKEA and are in good condition.
The platform “remains a test, because none of this is closed for the rest of the future,” recalls Maria João Franco.
