The governor of Goiás, (), launched this Friday (4) in his pre-candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic with criticism of the President (PT), significations of independence in relation to () and a speech focused on public security.
About 5,000 people were mobilized for the act, including more than one hundred mayors of cities in Goiás. Part of the supporters wore green and yellow shirts and the phrase “Caiado, courage to straighten Brazil.” The slogan was also in jingles in country rhythm.
In a 40-minute speech, Caiado was anchored in his two terms as governor in Goiás, presenting himself as an experienced manager. Without quoting Bolsonaro, he sought to highlight his differences in relation to the former president, defending the dialogue, the liturgy of office, the ballot box and the harmony between the powers.
“Caiado since you were born has been unleashed. I’m not a vest pocket candidate, nor of anyone’s skirt bar. I go to the people, I’m going to discuss,” he said.
Caiado has a recent history of clashes with Bolsonaro, with disagreements during the pandemic and 2024.
Asked about the former president in a press interview, the governor praised him: “Bolsonaro is a person who has leadership in the country. He is a man who has the credibility of having erected the conservative right in the country. This is his merit.”
Part of the speech was also dedicated to criticism of the Lula administration, especially in the area of public security. The governor stated that there is no consolidated democracy in which neighborhoods are dominated by criminal factions.
“There is no this in Europe, this only exists in a country where the government is complacent with the crime. I assume the government in 2027, if I have in charge of the country, bandit goes to jail or will change from the country because in Brazil will have Ronaldo Caiado to confront crime,” he said.
He also criticized Lula in the economic area, citing the scenario of high and high interest rates in the price of food. He stated that the current government does not know how to talk to the youth, which wants to undertake and have no formal contract.
Caiado launched a pre-candidate despite in December 2024, he was convicted in the first instance for abuse of political power, ineligible for eight years. Appeal of the decision.
At age 75, he ascended into politics as founder of UDR (ruralist democratic union) and was a staunch opponent of the petist governments. He played the presidency when he was 10th.
His candidacy faces, which has part of the bench supporting Lula government – where he occupies three ministries – and another portion that follows faithful to Bolsonaro.
The event did not participate in the event (Tourism) and (communications) and Waldez Góes (national integration), appointed by the party, in addition to the president of ,.
Nor did the governors Mauro Mendes (Mato Grosso), Wilson Lima (Amazonas) and Marcos Rocha (Rondônia), all affiliated with the party and aligned with Bolsonaro.
The act had no presence of the national president of União Brasil, Antonio Rueda. The absence, said the party’s vice president, was combined not to generate questions from the other wings of the acronym.
The alcohumbre group, which in February signaled support for Lula in an act in Amapá, worked to empty the participation of parliamentarians in the event. From the senators’ bench, only Sergio Moro (União Brasil-PR) and Vanderlan Cardos (PSD-GO) attended.
Asked about the internal dissent, Caiado said the party is open to any affiliate who wants to dispute previews.

The launch of the pre-candidacy took place in the midst of an institutional act in which Governor was awarded the title of Bahian citizen and a commendation of July 2, the highest honor of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia.
