Last year there were five earthquakes in Slovakia, four of them with an epicenter in the Slovak Republic. Three were at the water reservoir Veľká Domaša and one in the Považský Inovec mountains. This stems from information on the state of monitoring of the geological factors of the environment, which the government took on Wednesday (April 2).

“The most reported macroseismic observations (109 observations from 27 municipalities) were for the earthquake With the epicenter at the Great Domaša water reservoir of 22 February 2024 with magnitude 2.7, ” was stated by the Ministry of the Environment in the material.

Therefore, in 2024, the 20 locations were monitored by three basic types of slope movements – Sliding (12 sites), crawling (three sites) and signs of activation of ruthless movements (four sites). At the same time, according to the ministry, slope deformations in the cadastral areas of municipalities and towns were activated last year, namely Kozelník, Galanta, Štiavnické Bane, Dolné Semerovce, Rudina, Lednica, Hričovské Podhradie, Likavka, Liptovská Osada, Dolny Kubín, Strečno, Žilina-Obchica, Košice (Bankov) Žilina-Budatín, Ružomberok-Biely Potok, Čičava, Čavoj, Ubľa, Ľubietová-Zábava, Domaniža, Zubrohlava, High Tatras, Kremná, Ždiar-Monkova Dolina.
