Public Prosecution Service states that retired magistrate of the São Paulo Court of Justice used British name to join USP and throughout his career
A retired judge was reported for using a false identity for over 40 years. The Public Prosecution Service states that Edward Albert Lancelot Dodd Canterbury Caterham Wickfield is actually José Eduardo Franco dos Reis.
Reis retired in April 2018 of the 35th Central Civil Court of the São Paulo District. According to the Transparency Portal of the Court, he received a gross maturity of R $ 166,413.94 in February 2025, with net income of R $ 143,290.55. The complaint was filed to court on February 27 by the prosecutors. The case came public on Thursday (3.ab.2025), from a report from the site g1.
Upon requesting the 2nd copy of the RG at Poupatempo Sé, in October 2024, the fingerprints of kings would have exposed their true identity. The investigation showed that, from a counterfeit birth certificate, the former judge would have maintained official documents, including voter title, social security number and passport, under the false name.
With the extensive name Edward Albert Lancelot Dodd Canterbury Caterham Wickfield, Reis joined USP and then pursued a career in law. The investigation showed that the former judge managed to maintain both active identities, including obtaining a duplicate of the True RG in 1993. With false identity, Reis even left the country using the passport.
