Taurus equipment marks the company’s expansion to the military sector; Material was displayed at LAAD Fair
Taurus announced on Tuesday (1st.br.2025) its entry into the heavy weaponry market for military purposes. The company from Rio Grande do Sul showed an armed drone prototype, equipped with a T4 rifle, during the Laad Military Fair, held in Rio de Janeiro.
The drone, which has not yet received a name, is a quadcopter. There is a possibility of being equipped in the future with a .50 machine gun. The Taurus prototype follows an observed trend in battles, where smaller and more economical drones have begun to replace larger models to perform accurate attacks.
The company also announced the acquisition of Mertsav, a Turkish Arms Manufacturer, aiming to expand its presence in the international market. The conclusion of the negotiation between companies is scheduled for the end of July 2025, and may extend for another 2 months.
Despite facing nearly 50% drop in profit in 2024, Taurus now seeks to strengthen its position in the military sector. Currently has factories in Brazil, the United States and India.
