A 52 -year -old man, identified by the initials STD, was arrested this week in Manaus (AM) after being located working at a gym belonging to a well -known franchise network of the Amazonian capital. He was convicted of sexually abusing a child, in a case that began in 2021 in Rio Branco (AC).

According to the Acre Civil Police (PCAC), investigations began after the victim’s mother denounce the abuse to the Specialized Child and Adolescent Protection Police Station. During the progress of the process, the accused left the state and resided in the Amazon, where he had been leading a seemingly normal life until he was identified by the authorities.
With the definitive conviction and the case already res judicata, the court issued the arrest warrant in early March this year. From this, the Capture Police Station (DEPAV) began a series of steps that resulted in the discovery of the convict’s new address and workplace.
The arrest was executed in cooperation with the Amazon authorities. Delegate Cleylton Videira, responsible for the investigation at the time the case was denounced, stressed the importance of integrated performance between the states to ensure the liability of criminals.
“Cases of sexual violence against children require firm and coordinated answers. This arrest shows that, even with the attempted escape and change of state, the court will be made. PCAC makes no effort to ensure the responsibility of criminals, especially when involving such vulnerable victims,” said Vine.
STD was sent to the Amazonian prison system, where he remains available to the court to serve the sentence.
