Minister says there are no more grounds for maintaining restrictions; PF says he was responsible for anti-use report
Minister Alexandre de Moraes, (Federal Supreme Court), determined on Wednesday (2.ab.2025) the return of the passport of businessman Eder Lindsay Magalhães Balbino. The decision also revokes 3 precautionary measures imposed on the entrepreneur and determines the restitution of his assets seized. He became known as “Genius of Uberlândia” for being quoted thus by the president of the PL (Liberal Party) when questioning the operation of the electronic ballot boxes. In the order, Moraes stated that there are no more legal grounds for the maintenance of restrictions, since Lindsay was not indicted in the final report of the (Federal Police) nor denounced by (Attorney General’s Office). “The necessary requirements are no longer present to maintain the previously imposed precautionary measures”Wrote the minister.
With the revocation, Moraes also determined the return of the seized goods. “Assists the defense, as there is absence of interest in maintaining the seizure of goods“, he wrote.
URN STUDY
Na of the PF that investigated those involved in an attempted coup d’état in 2022, Eder was appointed as one of those responsible for the study presented by the Party of the PL, to question the reliability of the electronic ballot boxes.
Although he was quoted by the PF, he was not indicted or denounced by PGR. This was the argument presented by the defense to request the revocation of precautionary measures.
The precautionary had been determined in decisions of 26 January and March 7, 2024. In them, Eder was prohibited from:
- Maintain contact with other investigated;
- absent from the country;
- Participate in ceremonies, parties or honors held at the Ministry of Defense, Navy, Aeronautics, Army and Military Police.
