The heavy rain that hit the northern coast of São Paulo caused floods in the city of Ubatuba between the night of last Friday (4) and the dawn on Saturday (5).
In 12 hours, according to the State Civil Defense, a 138mm rainfall was accumulated at the Marafunda subdivision in Ubatuba. In the Park of Ministries, in the same municipality, the accumulated was 128 mm.
At about 11:25 pm, the Ubatuba Fire Department was called for an occurrence with island people in the Taquaral neighborhood. On site, 12 people were rescued from a flooded area, seven female and five males, aged 4 months and 66 years.
“The victims were sent along with the Civil Defense to the José de Souza Simeão Municipal School, which is being used as a shelter, all without injury, being safely left in the care of the social support agency,” says the Fire Department.
The Civil Defense informs that, in the forecast for this Saturday, “the models indicate significant accumulated for the east range, specifically the region of Ubatuba and municipalities of border with Rio de Janeiro”.
