The player revealed that the decision to end the bond came from the club: ‘I still like to be on the field and fight for titles, but the club decided not to negotiate a new contract with me’
Thomas Müller, 35, announced on Saturday (5) that he will leave the after 25 years wearing the club shirt. The midfielder contract will end at the end of the current season. “It is clear that today is not like any other day for me,” said the player. “My 25 years as a Bayern Munich player will come to an end in the summer. It was an amazing journey, shaped by unique experiences, big meetings and unforgettable triumphs.”
On his social networks, the player made it clear that the decision to end the bond came from the club. “I still like to be on the field and fight for titles for our team and could easily have imagined taking this role next year, but the club decided not to negotiate a new contract with me. Even if it is not in agreement with my personal desires, it is important that the club follows its convictions,” lamented the athlete, who did not reach a financial agreement with the Bavaria club.
Müller helped Bayern win two and 12 German Championship titles – 33 trophies since he was raised to the professional cast in 2008 under the command of Jürgen Klinsmann. The boy had dressed the club’s shirt since 2000, going through all the grassroots categories. In total there were 247 goals scored, 220 assists and a record of 743 matches for the club.
“I feel immense gratitude and joy to have done this career with my beloved club,” said Müller. “The special connection with the club and our fantastic fans will always remain. What I want as a farewell must be clear: titles that we can celebrate together and moments that we will remember with love for a long time.”

Even with few opportunities this season, the experienced athlete will be able to celebrate two new achievements, if Bavarian ensemble wins German, a competition he leads, and advances in the Champions League – will face Inter Milan in the quarterfinals.
According to Bayern, Müller will do his farewell in June. “Thomas Muller is the definition of a fairytale career of Bavaria; he grew up in Bavaria and with Bayern,” said club president Herbert Hainer. “No one has won more German titles, and 33 trophies in total speak for themselves. He is among the most notable personalities in Bayern history.”
