Survey shows that 35% argue that former president had no participation; Research was done from March 27 to 31
A Genial/Quaest survey, released on Sunday (6.br.2025), revealed that for almost half of voters, the former president (PL) participated in the coup attempt plan at the end of 2022 and early 2023.
There were 2,004 in -person interviews, using a structured questionnaire, with 16 years old or older Brazilians, between March 27 and 31. The margin of error is 2 percentage points for more or less. The level of reliability is 95%. Here’s the full ( – 5.29 MB)
Given the question: “In your opinion, former president Bolsonaro participated in the plan of the coup attempt against the government or he had no involvement? ”49% of voters answered that “sim“35% said that“no”And 15% did not know or did not respond. According to the survey, 1% of respondents said spontaneously that“There was no scam attempt“.
The survey scenario shows that the opinion of Brazilian voters about the role of the former president on the plan remained stable between December 2024 and March 2025.
The fact that when the (Attorney General’s Office) by the (Supreme Federal Court) does not seem to affect the perception of the voters. The Supreme Court’s decision on the former president and 7 other people, including military, was taken on March 26, a day before the data collection began. The variation between December 2024 and March 2025 was within the research margin of the research.
In short, according to Quaest, when asked if former president Bolsonaro participated in the attempted coup, they said
- sim – 49% (48% in December 2024);
- no – 35% (34% in December 2024);
- Not knowing/did not answer: 15% (17% in December 2024);
- There was no scam attempt: 1% (2% in December 2024).
