The policy was sentenced to four years in prison and five of political disqualification for deflecting public funds when he was a deputy
The French far right called a demonstration on Sunday in support of its leader, sentenced to four years in prison and five of political disqualification, two years from the upcoming presidential elections. She is accused of deflecting public funds when she was a deputy. The National Regrouping Party (RN) marked the protest for 13h00 GMT (10h00 in Brasilia) in Les invalides, the emblematic Parisian building that houses the tomb of Napoleon.
The court condemned their party and 24 other people for paying the money from their subtitles between 2004 and 2016. The immediate execution of ineligibility frustrates their presidential ambition after defeats in 2017 and 2022 in the second round to Macron.
The parliamentary leader of the RN, who always defended her innocence, emphasized on Sunday that she would challenge her decision “democratically” and “peacefully”, citing the fight for the civil rights of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr in the United States. “We will follow the example of Martin Luther King, who defended civil rights” because “it is the civil rights of the French who are being questioned today,” said the deputy for video conference, addressing the congressmen of the Italian League, the anti-immigration party of Matteo Salvini, gathered in Florence.
Protest day in Paris
Two other protests will take place simultaneously. The first was summoned by the Radical Left Party to Intrisubless France (LFI) and environmentalists at Place de La République, in the French capital. The second, planned months ago, will take place in Saint-Denis, north of Paris, and was organized by the Renaissance Centrist Party, near the presidential field.
