Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will go to Washington on Monday and on the agenda of discussions he will have there will be the issue of duties recently announced by President Donald Trump, a four -year -old Israeli official announced.
On Thursday, Trump said he was expecting a visit from Netanyahu “in the not -so -distant future, maybe next week”.
This out -of -plan trip to the Israeli prime minister may be the first meeting of a foreign leader with Trump on a bilateral deal to remove duties.
One of the officials said that the meeting of the two leaders would discuss Turkey’s growing influence in Syria, Iran and Israel’s war on Hamas in Gaza.
The sweeping duties imposed on dozens of countries by Trump, are also targeted by Israeli products exported to the US, which are subject to 17%duties. An Israeli Treasury official said on Thursday that the latest Trump duties could affect Israel’s exports of engineering and medical equipment.
