Marine Le Pen uses André Ventura and Salvini as examples after being convicted of funds deviations

French far-right leader promised a “peaceful and democratic battle” against his condemnation

French far-right leader Marine Le Pen today promised a “peaceful and democratic battle” against her in a video speech at Matteo Salvini’s Italian League Congress.

“Our battle will be like yours (Salvini), peaceful and democratic, and we can say that the example comes from Martin Luther King, who spoke of civil rights. And it is the rights of the French who are being put into question,” said Le Pen.

In his speech, Marine Le Pen warned that this “attempted manipulation” affects the entire European continent, giving as an example the investigations to the parties arrives, André Ventura, and of Salvini, partner in the group “Patriots for Europe” of the European Parliament.

Last week, the president of the arrival, refused to support Le Pen in the face of the condemnation that he was targeted, unlike other European far-right leaders, and even compared the case with that of Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, despite not any conviction.

Ventura considered that, in both the case and the other, “if they have to withdraw the proper consequences,” stating that “it is not worse” the case of Le Pen than Montenegro’s case, although he has argued with the risk of “ineligibilities to become a way to ward off political opponents” and that the courts cannot make “political persecution.”

Marine Le Pen confessed today “moved” with the support of the leaders of the League of Salvini, current vice president of the Giorgia Meloni government, who in November was acquitted of a process in which she was accused of kidnapping for her anti-immigration policies in 2019.

His speech at the Italian party congress in Florence occurred on the same day as Le Pen’s supporters and critics in Paris, France, in separate demonstrations after their conviction for improper appropriation of public funds.

The French far-right leader classified her conviction as “an attack perpetrated by the courts against the leaders who protect her country and her sovereignty.”

“The attack is very violent and affects all the French people. It is not only my future that is at stake, but the country, the French people, who can not elect or vote for a candidate who wants to drive our country, since I was already the favorite in previous presidential elections,” he said.

Noting that he will fight and never give in to “violation of democracy,” Le Pen has promised to use “all legal instruments” to be able to run for presidential and “prevent this attempt to end the democratic functioning of France.”

The National Union (far right) has convened for today a demonstration in Paris to support its historic leader Marine Le Pen, after its conviction for diversion of European funds, which made it ineligible for public office for five years.

The lawsuit was called by the current party leader Jordan Bardella, who encouraged the far right to go to the street to protest the court decision, which also sentenced Le Pen to four years in prison (two of which are attenuated, attenuated for use of electronic bracelet).

Part of the French opposition classified this manifestation as a protest against the independence of judicial power in France, a principle that constitutes one of the pillars of democracy.

On the eve of the protest, a poll revealed that almost half of the French (49%), an increase of seven percentage points in a month, wants Marine Le Pen to be a candidate for the upcoming presidential elections in 2027.
