A woman’s uncle entered her house, accompanied by three gunmen, and opened fire against her and her daughter. The murder took place on Friday, in the district of Mansehra, in northwestern Pakistan.

“Crimes of honor” make hundreds of victims a year

Every year, hundreds of women are victims of the so -called “crimes of honor” in Pakistan, perpetrated by their families, under the pretext of having embarrassed their families when marrying without permission, a requirement in some Zones of Pakistan, especially rural ones.

In addition, the murdered woman belonged to the Syed lineage, who is believed to be descended from the Prophet Muhammad and, therefore, according to the Islamic law of some zones, must marry who is the same origin.
