The resistance to an EU accession is crumbling in Norway. Within a few months, the NO-warehouse lost around ten percent of approval. The supporters of membership still do not conduct the surveys, but the numbers change as quickly as it has not been for a long time. The Norwegian government coalition was broken in January. There was a dispute over EU energy packages. Now the debate about joining the EU dominates the election campaign before the parliamentary elections in September. “I think we are as close to joining as it hasn’t been the case for a long time,” says Lise Rye in an interview with the standard. She is a historian at the NTNU university in Trondheim in Norwegian and researches EU relationships with Norway’s EU relationships.
