Residents are islanded in Ubatuba because of heavy rains

The thunderstorms that hit between Friday night (4) and this Saturday (5) caused damage in different cities in the territory of São Paulo. The Civil Defense reported that the level of rainfall in Serra do Mar has reached 407mm in the last 24 hours. In Ubatuba, with a rainfall of 177mm, the thunderstorms caused the overflow of rivers, tree falls and left families homeless. The neighborhoods Rio Dark, Ponta Grossa, Toninhas, Itamambuca, Camburi and Felix record tree falls. One of them hit the wall of a house on Goiabeira Street, in the Sesmaria neighborhood. According to the Civil Defense, no one was a holiday. On the Oswaldo Cruz Highway, at kilometer 73, a tree fell on the track. The municipality of ABC Paulista, in the metropolitan region of the capital, recorded 126mm of precipitation at the Paranapiacaba Meteorological Station. The Civil Defense registered a landslide on Maria Cristina Norma Street, in Parque America neighborhood, which caused the fall of a wall and also overthrowing trees on public roads. There was no report of people injured, homeless or displaced

In Rio Grande da Serra, also in Greater SP, and in Bananal, in the extreme east of the state, trees also fell on the street, reaching electrical wiring. In Bananal, the occurrence took place on Sebastião Diniz de Moraes Highway (SP 247), at kilometer 20, which gives access to the backlands of Bocaína. The road remained banned until the track was cleaned. In Campos do Jordão, in Serra da Mantiqueira, another region widely affected by the rains, the Civil Defense recorded a landslide in the Fracanlaza neighborhood, which eventually did not reach any residence. However, a family was sent to the house of relatives per precaution. There is also no record of injured people.

In Ilhabela, on the North Coast, 26 trees fell, including about real estate. A residence was hit by vegetation and a family had to be displaced. The Castilian road was temporarily banned due to the occurrences, but has already been released. Civil Defense teams in the municipalities report that they follow in the field acting on the clearance of the roads and providing support to the population. The Rio-Santos and Tamoios highways were banned throughout the day. The first released the traffic of vehicles in a total way around 6:30 pm on Saturday, but the second follows with the descent stretch to the North Coast, Via Serra Velha, interdicted, until the publication of the text.
