The cream is a cake that every Pole should know And try to try at least once in your life. A legend with the participation of John Paul II has been arranged around this delicious dessert. But was it actually as she says?
In Poland, creams served in confectioneries are often provided with the adjective “papal”. It will be particularly noticeable when we go on a trip to Wadowice. On almost every sign of the confectionery We will find the inscription “Papal creams”. But what does that really mean? The term is associated with a story.
In 1999, John Paul II made a pilgrimage to Poland, and one of the points were the family Wadowice of the Saint. For this reason, a meeting with the city’s inhabitants and youth was organized. During it The Pope admitted that after graduating with his friends he went to the confectionery around the corner for cream.
Because of this memory it has grown around the cream Legend that John Paul II would love sweetsin particular cream. The dessert was “baptized with the” Papal “adjective”, which were to indicate that it was the one that the great Pole chose. Instead, it turns out that The truth is slightly different.
John Paul II in an interview with French journalists who prepared a document regarding the kitchen of the popes, admitted that everything was exaggerated. According to him, lovewhich he would have for cream, has been exaggerated by recipients, in particular media and confectioners. Much more from cream He preferred Ruthenian dumplings.
Despite this fact, the creams are still described as papal and it will probably stay that way.
