In an interview with CNN Sustainabilitythe professor of the department of botany at the University of São Paulo Marcos Buckeridge stated that “Brazil is the most advanced country in the world in terms of energy sustainability.”
According to the expert, “there is no other country that can really compete with us because of ethanol and hydrogen.”
The teacher also explains that hydrogen production has been studied by several countries, such as the United States, Japan and Portugal. But Brazil is also a pioneer in this new technology.
“If we can leverage, this will need subsidy, it will need the government to continue investing in the polls, because without research we are nowhere,” said Buckeridge.
The teacher explains that Brazil does not need to transport hydrogen to Europe, the United States or Japan. The idea is to turn ethanol into hydrogen within the vehicle itself, not to change the current logistics. “We transport the ethanol and the reformer is on the other side.”
