A Palestinian teenager with American citizenship was killed by Israeli forces in the city of Turmus Ayya, West Bank, Palestinian officials said on Sunday (6). The Israeli army claims to have shot a “terrorist” who put civilians in danger when throwing stones.
The attack is the most recent of a wave of almost daily violence and confrontations in the volatile Somit Bank, where the violence of the settlers and the confrontations between Israeli forces and armed Palestinians have kept the country under tension.
Turumus Mayor Ayya, Adeeb Lafi, told Reuters at the beginning of the day that Omar Mohammad Rabea, 14, was shot along with two other teenagers by an Israeli at the entrance of Turumus Ayya and that the Israeli army declared him dead after stopping him.
However, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned the incident as an “extrajudicial murder” during an operation in the city, saying it was the result of Israel’s “continuous impunity”.
