Passenger tries to open emergency window and delay flight in RS

Travelers had to be removed from the plane for safety reasons; aircraft Ia from Santa Maria to Viracopos (SP)

A flight of the Blue Company, bound for Viracopos, suffered a delay of 2 hours after a passenger tried to open one of the emergency windows while the aircraft was still on the ground at Santa Maria airport in central Rio Grande do Sul, on Sunday afternoon (6.ab.2025).

According to the company, the passenger and his companion were immediately removed from the flight and sent to the competent authorities for the appropriate measures. For safety reasons, the other passengers were also removed from the aircraft, being taken to the boarding room while waiting for the resolution of the situation.

After the safety procedure, the passengers were reframed and the flight went to the destination around 1:45 pm, two hours after the time originally expected for takeoff.

In a statement, Azul lamented the disorders caused and stressed that actions such as this are essential to ensure the safety of operations, which is considered a priority for the company.

“Azul informs that the AD4579 flight (Santa Maria-Viracopos) this Sunday (06/04) was delayed after an undisciplined passenger deliberately trigger one of the aircraft’s emergency exits. The client in question and one of his companions were taken from the flight and sent to the competent authorities for security procedures.

“The other customers have been requeed and the aircraft will proceed to their destination. Azul regrets any inconvenience and points out that such measures are necessary to check the safety of its operations, primordial value for the company.”
