The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicans-PB), decided to vote the request for the urgency of four bills of interest to the judiciary, leaving out, at least for the moment, the proposal that grants amnesty to those arrested and convicted of the attacks of 8 January.
The decision displeases the base of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who increased the pressure inside and outside the congress. On Sunday (6),, in São Paulo, charging from the command of the Chamber the inclusion of PL 2,858/2022 on the agenda.
Meanwhile, the former president’s allies continue with the strategy of obstruction in the commissions of the house as a retaliation. Opposition parliamentarians have used mass requirements, prolonged lines and regimental maneuvers to paralyze work -.

The leader of the PL in the House, Deputy Sostenes Cavalcante (RJ), said that the urgency of the amnesty will be voted on “whether or not” the mayor. According to him, the collection of signatures continues, and the request for urgency.
Behind the scenes, Bolsonaro’s allies guarantee that the project will advance, even with the brake imposed by Motta. The assessment is that popular pressure has worked and that the theme of amnesty will continue at the center of the right agenda until it is voted.
